SoulScorch Engine

A real engine site for building rhythm games, homebrew worlds, and jam-ready showcases.

SoulScorch started from an FNF base, but it is being documented and shaped as a broader engine. This wiki covers the creator-facing side of that work: songs, stages, scripting, project structure, mod showcases, and community events.

7 core docs tracks from setup to showcases
6 scripting backends already supported by the engine
Live catalog-driven showcases and an active jam board for community projects

Engine

Build full projects, not only week packs.

SoulScorch supports songs, characters, stages, modcharts, custom states, replay systems, packaging, and multi-backend scripting from one HaxeFlixel codebase.

Marketplace

HomeSoulDB powers the catalog and stand metadata.

Listings can advertise billboard copy, showcase themes, avatar-ready booths, jam support, and multiplayer-facing metadata for HomeSoul Cove.

Showcases

Projects can be presented as living showcases, not just static downloads.

The site, the catalog, and HomeSoul Cove can all reinforce how a project is described, discovered, and remembered.

Editors

Charting, stage, character, and modchart workflows already exist.

Creators can stay in one toolset while iterating on content, and this site explains which editor is responsible for which part of the pipeline.

What SoulScorch Actually Is

A rhythm-first engine that is stretching into a bigger creative platform.

SoulScorch still carries the homebrew spirit. It is scrappy, creator-facing, and heavily mod-oriented. At the same time, the codebase already covers much more than a basic FNF fork. It ships scripting backends, chart and asset systems, editors, cutscenes, dialogues, shaders, replays, 3D experiments, and a community catalog layer.

This wiki is written to help people understand where the engine is today and where it can go next. The goal is not to sound corporate. The goal is to make the engine usable, understandable, and welcoming to people who want to build weird, stylish, or ambitious projects.

Roadmap Tracks

Mod-first workflow

Small asset packs, larger overhauls, and custom gameplay behaviors should all feel like native use cases, not awkward exceptions.

Game-scale projects

The engine needs documentation and tooling that support full original games built on the same base, including custom progression, hubs, and presentation.

Community visibility

HomeSoulDB and HomeSoul Cove are the discovery layer. They help people browse, test, showcase, and talk about projects inside the broader SoulScorch space.

Current mood: bright homebrew console channel, creator-first docs, standout showcases, and a community rhythm scene that feels alive.
